Comfort food. The first 2017 post of #CucinaConversations has a melancholy theme. But, if you expect from me to have a chocolaty stuff, or spoons that drown on a pint of ice cream…well, I’m sorry, but I have to disappoint you.
Drown in sweets is not for me.
I’m perfectly agreeing with blanket on legs, sprawled on the sofà, light off, obscured curtains and no stop Netflix tv series. Do you know what I mean?
In these, often rainy days, my desire to cook is zero minus zero, but the family has to be fed. And if you have a teen in your family, and his hunger is like that of a bear at its waking, you could understand what I mean. So, it comes in my help my mom’s easy recipe. Pasta in Brodaccia AKAS pasta in a simple celery broth, tomato, and sometimes a potato. Broth + Accia that, in our dialect, means Celery.
My mom did this dish for dinner in those tired working day of winter, when she had not, neither desire nor time to cook. But, just like me, she had to put something on the table.

Time to set the table, and the broth was ready. It was not a gourmet meal, but it was the most delicious pasta we had ever ate. And there were also many bis.
It happens the same now, with my kids. Choosing pasta’s shape, could make the difference. It makes everything funny and very special. Let your kids choose Pasta’s shape.
I had never considered this dish as a Comfort Food. To be honest, I thought not to even have a Comfort Food. I must thank my CucinaConversations fellow blogger, that made me realize that, we all have one. And then I also have to thank my husband. As soon as I asked him for an advice, he had no doubts: La Pastina Brodaccia, our Sunday’s dinner on the sofà.
Recipe is very simple
1 handful of celery leaves
water, salt, olive oil
Put a large pot with water, on the fire. Add potatoes, cut into small cubes, add at the same time, celery with its leaves and a tomato. My mom have never bought fresh tomatoes during winter time, she uses her homemade peeled tomatoes. I, unfortunately, can not resist to temptation, and I often buy tomatoes in winter.
Let the broth boil and cook it for 10 minutes before adding your pasta. If you want, you can partially blend it, to give a creamy consistency, children will eat celery, without problems.
A little olive oil, and some parmesan. And Netlix and your sofà are ready to Confort you.
Super fast, super good, and very Comfortable.
All of my January should be based on Confort Food. There is cold, there is winter, and there is a crazy scale in the bathroom. What else?
